A fun loving person and traveler that I am, I am always planning holidays for my family. This time, it was the elephant country, Sri Lanka. My family trip to Sri Lanka is a kaleidoscope of colorful memories and invigorating experiences.
For me, traveling is life! There is no better way for self-exploration than traveling. As a traveler, I love meeting new people, try new cuisines, explore different cultures, and nature. Whenever life feels directionless or hazy, I just pack my bags and leave to some place to seek solace. With this notion in mind and of course having a splendid time with my family, I took an exotic family trip to Sri Lanka with the help of TravelTriangle.
Sri Lanka had always been on my bucket list. And, when I stumbled through TravelTriangle on Facebook, I wasted no more time to plan my #FamJam in the tropical paradise that Sri Lanka is. I told all my requirements to the travel expert and bam! I was provided with three travel quotes out of which I chose the one suiting my needs the best.

Itinerary & Experience Of Surabhi’s Family Trip Sri Lanka
Here are the detailed itinerary and day-wise experience of my tropical holiday in Sri Lanka with my dear family:
Day 1 & 2: Touchdown & Kandy Exploration
We landed at the Colombo Airport late in the night where we were picked by the driver. We checked into our hotel and crashed straight into the bed. Next day, we woke up refreshed and left for Kandy after our sumptuous breakfast.
Our first stop in Kandy was Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage where we saw the spectacular site of numerous elephants frolicking in the river. The next stop in Kandy was the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a Buddhist temple located in the royal palace complex. Apart from seeing the sacred tooth of Buddha, we also enjoyed watching Kandyan dance performance. Kandy Lake was the next stop but it was Kandy View Point that stole the show. The views of the city from the top were mesmerizing. Our stay at Emerald Hill Hotel was decent.
Day 3: Nuwara Eliya: The Heart Of Sri Lanka
We left for Nuwara Eliya from Kandy after our breakfast which as a 2.5 hours drive. We made our stop at the ravishing Ramboda Falls. Thank God we did! It was so soothing and refreshing. After that, we headed straight to Tea Plantation and Factory, just one of the things Sri Lanka is famous for. The verdant greenery and lingering aroma in the air captivated our senses. Our next stop was Ashok Vatika Temple, the popularity of which needs no introduction. However, seeing the place coming alive from the mythology was fascinating. A boat ride on the Gregory Lake made our day.
Our stay for tonight was at Grand Camellia Hotel and it was oh-so-amazing! I wish we had stayed longer at this beautiful 4-star property.
Day 4: Lazing Off In Bentota
Bentota was the second last stop on our Sri Lanka trip. We had reserved this day to do nothing but relax in Joe’s resort (our stay in Bentota) with direct access to the beach.
Day 5: Colombo Sightseeing
Since it was our last day in Sri Lanka, we wanted to make the most of it. And, we did! We hopped on the Colombo City Tour where we made stops at the Town Hall, Independence Square, Vihara Maha Devi Park, Dutch Fort, WTC World Trade Center, Gangarama Temple, and Colombo City Beach. It is also a great city to experience Sri Lankan nightlife which we happened to enjoy to the fullest. Obviously, we did a lot of shopping too.
WOW Moments During The Trip
Our whole trip to Sri Lanka was fascinating but I have to say that our stay in Nuwara Eliya was stupendous.
Tips For Future Travelers
Try to put more days on your itinerary for Nuwara Eliya. Spending one day does not do justice to this place.
