Candolim Beach, located in North Goa, is a famous tourist destination near Sinquerim Beach. This beach is situated in the northern part of Sinquerim Beach and in the southern part of Calangute Beach. Candolim Beach was the first village where everybody converted to Christianity in the 16th century. Candolim acted as a main point for the anti-Portuguese revolution of 1787. It was also called the Conspiracy of the Pintos. This revolt started with the discrimination of the natives by the clergy and government authorities.

The Goa Sand Art Festival is held on this beach for three days, a famous festival in Goa. Different social messages about nature are conveyed through sand art on this day. Fort Aguada, located in Goa, is situated on Sinquerim Beach. This fort is located on the southern part of Candolim Beach and the shore of the Mandovi River. It is a 17th-century Portuguese fort. It also provides a view of the Arabian Sea from this fort. This fort was constructed in 1612 to protect from the Dutch. The fresh water supply within the fort provided ships with a place to stop by. The name of this fort translates to watery in Portuguese. Many ships would pass through this fort.

Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, located in Panjim is an iconic church. This church conducts mass everyday in English, Konkani and Portuguese. This church was built in the Baroque style as a chapel in 1541 which gives a view of the city of Panjim from the hillside. It was later replaced into a church in the 1600’s. An ancient bell in this church is known to be the second largest in Goa.

This chapel was initially built to help serve the religious needs of the Portuguese sailors. At those times, it was a small fishing village. A symmetrical zigzag staircase was added to the church in the 18th century, and the bell was installed in 1871. The architecture of this church is known to be very detailed and beautifully decorated. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, located in Goa, is a mangrove habitat situated near the Mandovi River and the western tip of Chorao Island. This sanctuary is named after an ornithologist, Salim Ali. This sanctuary has many mangroves, like Rhizophora mucronata, Avicennia officials and many more species. This sanctuary is 440 acres and almost covers a low mangrove forest. To visit this sanctuary, tourists should get permission from the Chief Wildlife of the Forest Department, Panaji. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is open from 6:00 am – 6:00 pm. The entry fee is Rs. 10 for Indians, Rs. 160 for foreigners, Rs. 25 for still cameras, and Rs. 150 for video cameras.
