While there aren’t many things to do in Chail on a short weekend trip, I discovered with my college friends that partying in these hill stations of Himachal is surprisingly a great option. The snow-clad hills and the starry envelope of the night sky are perfect for a night party and bonfire for the New Year’s eve. You can also visit Shimla on your return journey to Delhi.

How to reach Chail & Shimla from Delhi? Chail is situated 336 km from Delhi. Shimla is a further 45 km from Chail. Both these hill stations are well connected by a rail network. One can take a train up to Kalka, followed by a toy train to Shimla. Alternatively, a direct train to Kandaghat (30 km from Chail) can be taken. But I personally prefer the road journey. The scenic journey never ceases to amaze me. And I am sure the experience will not be any different for you either.

Why should you be heading to Chail & Shimla this New Year? Shimla has been the most popular weekend getaway from Delhi and other cities of North India – be it for couples, for families, or for a group of friends. And Chail, because of its proximity to Shimla, is often visited by those who prefer walking on the untrodden ways. From my personal experience, I can tell that the two hill stations are wonderful for a weekend escape. Be it the Chail Cricket Ground & the Sidh Baba Temple in Chail or the numerous places to visit in Shimla, including Jakhu Temple, Christ Church, & Mall Road, there is a plethora of tourist attractions that you can visit. But I have always loved the road journey from Delhi to Dalhousie more, simply because it gives me the option to stop en route to enjoy the picturesque views. Try it! You wouldn’t regret, I am sure.

Why should you be heading to Dalhousie this New Year? The very fact that the beauty of Khajjiar has earned it the title of Mini Switzerland of India should convince you for a trip to Dalhousie. A DJ party & bonfire in such a beauteous destination surely makes me interested. And this is just the beginning. With Chamera Lake, Dainkund Peak, Panjpulla waterfall and other places to visit in Dalhousie, the destination offers a splendid taste of beauty. And if you want something more exciting, you can go for paragliding, zorbing, and trekking in Khajjiar. 4. Dhanaulti

Scenic views of the Garhwal Himalayan Range and a plethora of activities make camping in Dhanaulti a delightful experience.
