You can take a day trip from Kanyakumari to Kovalam beach and explore the many other terrific choices in the neighboring state. If you plan ahead, you can even visit a couple of beaches in one day.

Muttom Beach is one of the more famous beaches in Kanyakumari. It’s clean and very picturesque with large rocks breaking up the surf. You can climb onto these outcrops for an unobstructed view of the sea. They’re also the best place to photograph the waves in detail. If that’s too close for comfort, you can sit on one of the many benches and train your lens at the distance.

Muttom Beach is known for its dramatic beauty and if you have the time to visit only one beach in Kanyakumari, this is it. There are so many corners to explore. Be warned that the sea is rough here and swimming is not advisable. However, there’s a lighthouse right next to it dating back to the colonial period where you can enjoy panoramic views of the sea. From here, you can make your way to the Portuguese-style All Saints Church. The white façade is a lovely contrast against the dark blue of the sea.
