The promise of a dry winter wonderland in crystal clear moonlight is a blockbuster adventure waiting to happen. Read the intriguing account of Nishant, as he reveals his sojourns to the lovely salt lands of Rann of Kutch in a romantic trip to Gujarat. The 3 days/2 nights trip cost them a total of INR 24,500 that included transfers, accommodation, sightseeing, and breakfast.

Travel for me is letting my hair down, and enjoying every bit of my journey. It is the time when I get to introspect and look back on the time gone by. As a traveler, I like to visit places that are not frequently visited by many or overshadowed by other popular destinations. I particularly enjoy serene and quaint places that offer a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

We were browsing through facebook and stumbled upon the advertisement of TravelTriangle for Gujarat holiday packages. Having already heard a lot about the white desert from friends and colleagues we decided to give it a go. Finalizing Kutch as a destination wasn’t hard as my fiance and I share the same passion for travel as I do.

Our romantic trip to Gujarat started quite adventurously as we had missed our train to reach the destination. Finally on reaching, we were happy to find ourselves in a comfortable and cozy room booked in Hotel Grand 3D in Bhuj.

After a while, we went out to explore the city of Bhuj with our driver who took us around the famous palaces of the city and also helped us find a refreshing cup of tea. We started our trip with the visit to the famous Prag Mahal, Rani Mahal and Aina Mahal.

Post that, we went to chattarji, a cluster of royal tombs which was in ruins caused by the 2001 earthquake. It seemed to be a popular hangout as lots of people were seen strolling and clicking pictures around. Our next stop was the famous Swami Narayan temple of Bhuj which was adorned by white marble walls and looked beautiful shining in white lights. After our temple visit we headed back to our hotel to take some rest.

International Kite Festival In Gujarat 2022: Join The Uttarayan Celebrations This January

We were excited about visiting the Rann of Kutch on our romantic trip to Gujarat since we had heard a lot about it from our friends who had shared their pictures of white desert in moonlight. So when we finally reached the white desert in Kutch, we were mesmerized with the beautiful salt land shining in the light like tiny diamonds.

On our way to the desert we saw lots of camel and horse carts carrying people to the desert. On reaching our destination, we could see hoards of people climbed on the various decks of the watchtowers and enjoying the views of the vast expanse of desert. We checked into Patghar Tent after arriving in Kutch.

Overnight stay in Kutch

We strolled for a while on the beautiful white salt and later climbed the watch tower ourselves to take in the beauty of the Rann of Kutch. Later on, we headed to the nearby craft bazaar where we shopped for traditional kutchi jewellery and clothes. After having dinner at 8 pm, we returned back to the hotel.

Day 3: A visit to divine Mandvi

On our final day we checked out of Kutch early morning and visited the close by Mandvi city. We started with a sumptuous thali in a local eatery and headed to few of the famous places to visit in Gujarat– Vijay Vilas palace and the Mandvi beach.

The beach in Mandvi was thronged by tourists of all ages enjoying the sand and camel rides. After chilling for a bit on the beach, we had lunch in Mandvi and headed back to Bhuj city to end our trip.

If I were to summarize this romantic trip to Gujarat, I would definitely remember it by the Rann of Kutch. We spent hours in the desert and could not get enough of the beauty around us. We reached the desert when the sun was about to set and we started back when the moon was high in the sky making the desert glow like a jewel.Amidst all this, a group of local people was playing soothing music beside the tower and engaging wide variety of tourists from all walks of life with their melodious tunes. All of this felt like a festival in true sense.

  • The hotel given to us on the first day was really good

Low Points:

  • On our final day of travel, our driver was hesitant to ferry us around to all the places mentioned in the itinerary and we had to convince him to take us there.

Tips To Travelers:

  • I found the package booked via TravelTriangle as great value for money.
  • We would’ve liked to stay in Tent City close to the white Rann as it had a lot of other activities which we could have explored and missed out on since we were staying in a different camp.
