The mangrove belt possessed all the characteristics of a coastal rainforest and was a home to a diverse array of wild animals, and a variety of plant species.

The first open-air gym in the state of Kerala is currently under construction at the Asramam Adventure Park. The months of November and December, which fall within the winter season, are the ideal time to visit Kollam. During this period, the weather is relatively pleasant, with low humidity levels and minimal rainfall, making it the perfect time to enjoy an evening at the beach. However, it is best to avoid visiting during the monsoons, as Kollam experiences a tropical coastal climate, and the temperatures typically range between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Due to its proximity to the ocean, Kollam experiences frequent rainfall, and thunderstorms are more common from July to September during the returning monsoon season.
