It is said that Lakkidi View Point is where Pazhassi Raja fought against the British colonial army and earned the nickname “the Lion of Kerala” for his bravery and power against foreign forces.
The Pazhassi Raja used the dense forest of Lakkidi as his shelter and base for his guerrilla fighting. His devoted tribal warriors, who knew the terrain well, helped him to ambush the enemy troops. Thamarassery Churam, or Thamarassery Pass, is one of the famous battles in Lakkidi’s dense forests. The British colonial army tried several times to capture this area but failed due to the bravery and resistance of Pazhassi Raja and his devoted tribal warriors.
