Kerala adds another feather to its hat by announcing the state to be “differently-abled friendly” by 2022. This incredible tourism initiative taken by the state has made it worthy of the title “God’s Own Country”. As declared by the state tourism minister Kadamapally Surendran, the state has picked 120 tourist spots in the initial phase. And the best part is that the work and required installations are already done in 98 tourist spots for differently-abled while the work is still in progress on the other places. The main motive behind this initiative taken by the government is to make the tourist destinations in Kerala accessible for the different-able tourists. This announcement narrows the gap of the major barrier of tourism and will make the differently-abled tourists feel empowered and explore without any worries.
What Are The Facilities?
Under this initiative the state department has declared to install accessible ramps, special toilets, wheelchairs, walking stick, folding walkers, crutches, special signages, tactile walkways, touch screen kiosks, braille brochures and audio guides.
The Vision Behind This Initiative
The state government has set a target of 10-12 percent growth in arrivals and earnings both to bring the state to normalcy after the effect of last year’s slowdown. This is one of the important initiatives which the government has taken to boost tourism in the region till the beginning of next upcoming years.
There is no doubt that with this incredible effort, Kerala has gained a major spot in the world map and also among the heart of tourists. From now, not only the landscapes and the lush green beauty of Kerala will be a reason to visit but this wonderful step will definitely be an inspiration for the other states. So now if you’re planning a vacation in Kerala, it is definitely going to be a whole new experience at these tourist spots for differently-abled.
