Kanika Sharma elaborates on her incredible trip to Kerala that she took with her husband and their 3-month-old baby boy ‘Anav’. They were joined by their friends and together all of them ventured in to explore the best that Kerala had on offer. Kanika booked her package 4 adults from TravelTriangle and it included their hotel bookings – all for a cost of INR 60,420.
Kerala was one destination that was on my mind since a long time. Our friends living there had always spoken very highly about its natural beauty and now when we had some spare time in our hands, both my husband and I were looking forward to our first trip with the newest member of the family – our 3-month-old baby boy ‘Anav’.
We were buzzing with excitement!
TravelTriangle was recommended to me by my sister who had booked a package to Leh Ladakh for our parents from them. Having delivered a super successful trip, she was certain that we would experience the same this time too.
So I downloaded their Android app and submitted our basic details. Soon we were contacted by their travel representative who understood our needs and further connected us to local agents for best packages and quotes.
We choose our Kerala Travel Package from ‘Book It Forget It’ since they gave us an excellent deal on hotel bookings and were very cooperative to our needs.
Exploring best of Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) on our own
19th – 20th September, 2016
Prior to our hotel bookings and stays booked via TravelTriangle, we reached Kerala two days earlier on 19th September. These were the days we stayed with our friends in Trivandrum and explored the best that the city had on offer.

We began our journey with blessings from the Padmanabha Temple which was a great spiritual experience for everyone especially for the baby boy. He was smiling throughout the visit and it felt good to see him enjoy the peaceful ambience of the temple.
Next was the Kovalam beach where we had a really good time swimming in the ocean and soaking in the beach festivities all around. Kovalam beach was clean, beautiful, and a family friendly place where we had a lot of fun.
Another special attraction in Kovalam that we covered was ‘Bait Seafood Restaurant’ by Taj Hotels. This was once again a very delicious affair and we loved the food and seaside views that the place had on offer.

Day 1: Varkala – The seaside town of Kerala that can enchant you with its breathtaking views
21st September, 2016
Once we were done local sightseeing in Trivandrum, we started on our tour to visit other parts of Kerala. Our first destination was Varkala and it was a 2-3 hour drive from Trivandrum.
Varkala was a town that was 20-30 feet above sea level and offered breathtaking sea views and beaches. Our hotel booked here via TravelTriangle was ‘Clafouti Beach Resort’ and it was a beautiful property that was located very close to the beach.
After our check in at the hotel, we rested for a while and in the evening set off to explore the local market. We had our dinner in one of the restaurants here and it was a sumptuous meal.
Later on, we returned to our resort and called it a night.
Day 2: Kumarakom – Experiencing the backwaters delight and a fine resort stay

15 Wondrous Backwater Resorts In Kerala For A Pampered Holiday In 2022!
This day, we woke up a bit early and ventured out to get some fresh air. After a delightful morning walk, we went in to have breakfast and then checked out of the hotel and proceeded for Kumarakom.
Varkala to Kumarakom was a 2-3 hour ride and upon our arrival in the town, we checked into our hotel ‘Aveda Resorts & Spa’ which was absolutely amazing. After we had settled here, we went on to have lunch and indulged in some Kerala cuisine. The meal was mouth watering and the experience was totally authentic!
Post lunch, we proceeded on for the backwaters ride in a houseboat and doing it was surreal. There was water and greenery all around and it truly felt as if we were in God’s own country.
Later on, we returned to our hotel and proceeded to relax at the pool. This was again a very nice experience and all us friends had a great time talking to each other and making merry. Anav as usual was also in a very happy state of mind.
Day 3: Munnar – A hill station that is beautiful beyond imagination
23rd September, 2016
Breakfast at the hotel today was excellent. The spread was massive and everything tasted delicious. Also, sitting at the resort, eating and relaxing in a sea side background had its own perks and we were not complaining!
After this, we checked out of the hotel and proceeded for Munnar. It was a 4-5 hour drive and once we had reached the beautiful hill station, we checked into our resort ‘Ragamaya Resort & Spa’. We had booked an exclusive cottage here which was also accompanied by a private pool and boy it was a killer combination. Nobody could have asked for more in a hill station surrounded by green.
So upon our arrival at the resort, we checked in and relaxed for a while at the infinity pool and then went out sightseeing on our own. Upon our return, we once again chilled by the poolside but this time, it was our own private pool at the cottage.
We had a really good time at the pool and the amount of luxury that was available to us was stupendous! Later on, after a delicious dinner at the resort, we slept off.
Day 4: Munnar – Soaking in the beauty of Munnar
24th September, 2016
Post breakfast today, we set off for some local sightseeing on our own. We visited the Munnar Top Point but the view here wasn’t as good as a place near the police chowki that we had seen on its way. We also visited other gardens and places in the vicinity and it was a refreshing experience.
Later we packed up and returned to our hotel since it was raining as usual (it had been raining every night during our stay in Kerala). Nonetheless, the experience was only magnified with the rains since the climate was now much more cooler and scenery, well, much more mesmerizing!
Post this, we proceeded for lunch and then returned to our resort. Rest of the day was spent relaxing at the resort only.

Day 5: Thekkady – The resort of wonder!
25th September, 2016
Post breakfast, we checked out of our hotel and left for Thekkady. It was a very scenic drive (3 hours) and upon our arrival in the town, we checked into an even more scenic and beautiful resort ‘Shalimar Resort’. This was a fantastic place complete with its own spice plantations and gardens and we were totally awestruck by its natural charm.

The rest of our day was spent in the resort only and we had an awesome time here exploring the plantations, gardens, and the greenery in general. The whole experience was so scenic and rejuvenating that we decided to extend our stay at this resort by one more day.
Day 6: Thekkady – Peace, relaxation, and more at Shalimar Resort
26th September, 2016
This day was again spent relaxing at the Shalimar Resort. There was calm, peace, and serenity all around and we were totally in sync with the nature. Kerala was beautiful and our experience was further magnified by the luxuries and beauty of the resort.
Day 7: Farewell Kerala, you will be missed
27th September, 2016
This day we had our one last delicious breakfast and then checked out of the hotel and set off for Trivandrum to catch our flight to Delhi.
Kerala was good to us! We were looking for a holiday that would give us peace, relaxation, and a heavy dose of scenic beauty and Kerala delivered on all fronts. The journeys we took and the memories we made are forever etched in our mind and will stay there for a long time.
In the end, it was a perfect beginning and a fresh start to a new chapter in our life and I am sure our little angel Anav would agree.
High Points:
- The scenic drives, beautiful weather, rains, greenery and sightseeing – all added to the charm of Kerala and justified its title ‘God’s own country’.
- TravelTriangle was extremely helpful in getting us great hotel deals at a time when everything was booked.
Low Points:
- There was high tide in Varkala most of the time so we could not really access the beach.
- The hotel in Varkala could have better in terms of service
