One of the most iconic structures in Kovalam is the Vizhinjam Lighthouse. This red and white lighthouse is also one of the Instagrammable structures here including the beautiful beaches of the town. The lighthouse began functioning in 1972 when it guided the water vessels and Vizhinjam was a busy seaport. One can visit this amazing lighthouse during their trip to Kovalam in December.

One of the best things to do in Kovalam in December is to explore the town on a scooty. One can hire a scooty or bike for a minimal amount of INR 300 or 400 per day and have a great time exploring the town. One can ride to Trivandrum too, which is a close 18 km away from Kovalam. The palms on both sides of the roads make for amazing scooty rides here. The roads though are a bit steep here, so one needs to be a bit cautious. Avoid speeding at any time!

Price: INR 30 to 35/hour on weekdays and INR 40 to 50/hours on weekends

7. Get An Ayurvedic Massage

By Air: The nearest airport is at Trivandrum which is at a distance of around 18 km from Kovalam. One can hire a private taxi or Uber from the airport to the town. They would charge around INR 400 to 500 minimum. A better option is to hire an auto which one can find right outside the airport. Autos usually charge INR 200 – INR 250 to go to Kovalam from Trivandrum. Alternatively one can also take a flight to Kochi and further take a cab to reach Kovalam.

By Road: Kovalam is well connected to other cities of Kerala by roads and one can hire a taxi from other major cities or take the local bus to reach Kovalam.
