We wanted to spend our “most special holiday” amidst serene nature that would provide us with hills and water body at the same time. And what could have been more better than honeymoon trip to Kerala, which is not only an amazing coastal region but also has hill stations forests, and yes, amazing seafood cuisine.
Also being part of the IT industry and having a tight schedule, Kerala was the perfect choice to break away from the grind and indulge in a vacation that that offered peace of mind, tranquility, romance, and a sense of discovery.
In other words, Kerala was perfect for us.

Day 1: The magnificent hills of Munnar
We landed in Kochi and at the airport, were greeted by the agent’s representative. In the cab, we then proceeded towards Munnar and were greeted by some mesmerizing sceneries on our way. The waterfalls enroute were grand (Cheeyappara) and the high mountains with low clouds was a sight to behold.

Overall, the journey was very nice and we felt more rejuvenated than tired. We reached Munnar in the evening and then checked into our wonderful hotel. The rest of the time was spent relaxing.
Overall, this was a perfect start to our honeymoon.
Day 2: Incredible sightseeing in Munnar

In the evening, we returned to our hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 3: Best of nature and culture in Thekkady
It was a 3.5 hours ride to Thekkady via the cardamom hills and it was beautiful. After reaching the city, we checked into our hotel and then proceeded to the Periyar Tiger Reserve. We opted for a two hour boat ride here amidst the forest and it was one of the most refreshing experiences ever.

In the evening, we attended the local martial arts show (Kalaripayattu) and then headed back to the hotel after an eventful but tiring day.
Day 4: The backwaters of Alleppey

It was a 4 hour drive to Alleppey and after reaching the city, we checked into our resort that was located in the backwaters only. We were free to do whatever we wanted for the rest of the day and we chose to relax and enjoy the tranquil vibes of the sea.
In the night, we boarded the houseboat for a stay and even enjoyed a delicious dinner onboard.
Day 5: Cherai beach and back to Cochin
This was the last day of our honeymoon trip to Kerala and after breakfast, we proceeded towards the Cherai beach. This beach is by far the best picnic spot near Chennai and we loved our time spent here at the sandy beach. The best part here was this place is surrounded by both backwaters and beach – so no matter what, fun and peace is guaranteed here. One can swim in the sea, sunbathe, or enjoy the colorful sunset and sunrise.
Later, we proceeded back to Kochi airport to catch our flight back home.
Our honeymoon trip to Kerala was out of the world. This is one of the best destinations in not only India but I believe also the world for the kind of experiences one can enjoy here is amazing. From the mountains to the beaches to the backwaters and cultural extravaganza, spending our honeymoon here was the best decision we ever took.
The representative was very informative and good to talk to. He drove well and made sure that we do not miss anything. The hotels provided were in amazing and at scenic locations. Even the staff of the hotels was very cooperative.
The hotel provided at Munnar was no doubt amazing but the food was a challenge as there was no other option than eating at the same hotel. And, the hotel prices for food was way beyond costly as compared to its cost.
