The town is well-known for its fort perched on a hill, the Sri Shani Mahatma temple, and the Kote Anjaneya temple situated in the foothills. The largest solar park in Asia, Pavagada Solar Park, spans 10,000 acres and can produce 2,000 megawatts of solar electricity. It is located close to Thirumani hamlet. Before the rule, Madakshira chieftains governed Pavagada from 1580 to 1586. From 1591 until 1600, the fort on Pavagada Hill was constructed. From 1586 to 1799, eight kings ruled Pavagada, beginning at Ballappanayaka. In 1591, Pavagada was taken over by Tippu Sultan and given the name Fatehbad. Situated in the centre of the densely populated Pavagada town in Tumakuru district, the beautiful 600-year-old Pavagada Fort stands towering and tells stories of conflicts from its 700 meters of height. Built by a Vijayanagar chieftain, the fort is a multi-level structure with several enclosures, massive watchtowers and bunkers.

The sloping stonewalls that encircle the towers at various levels arouse curiosity. The enormous rocks of different forms looked strategically arranged to improve the structure’s aesthetic appeal. The enormous rock walls embracing the towers are menacing since they resemble a stone shield shielding them. It is reported that the military stores ammo inside the cages. These units are thought to be configured as follows because they lack doors.

Constructed around the 16th century, the temple boasts Vijayanagara architectural traits, with numerous sculptures and paintings adorning nearly every exposed surface. It is regarded as one of the most magnificent Vijayanagara temples and is a nationally significant, centrally protected site. The well-preserved fresco murals depict Rama and Krishna from the epic tales of the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Puranic texts. They are especially detailed, with vibrant costumes and colours.

The temple was constructed around 1530 AD. Virupanna Nayaka and Viranna, two brothers who served as governors in Penukonda, Karnataka, under the Vijayanagar Empire during the reign of King Achyuta Deva Raya, are also recorded in 1540 AD. There are solely Kannada inscriptions in the temple. The government paid for the construction of the temple.
