Europa Park, which is located in Rust, Germany, was founded by the Mack family in 1975 and was based on the American model. For Mack Ries, Franz Mack and his son Roland wanted to present their amusement rides. Originally, the idea was to build the project in Breisach, but the construction was shifted to Rust because of frequent floods. This park was established with 16 hectares of land and was named after a lake that symbolised the unity of Europe, and it gained immense popularity.
Europa Park was further developed in the 1980s, and new areas were created, each of which was dedicated to a country in Europe. The first was Italy in 1982; then there were others such as Holland, England and France. This was surpassed by two million visitors by the early 1991. It also brought on-site hotels to the park, beginning with El Andaluz in 1995. By 2012, Europa Park had eleven roller coasters, five themed hotels and over four and a half million visitors. 5 million visitors annually.
Further expansion was made in the construction of the Atlantic Water Park and other attractions, such as the Voletarium flight simulator attraction in 2017. However, a major fire incident occurred in May 2018 that affected several attractions, including the Pirates of Batavia. However, the park was operational the following day, and the parts that were affected were reconstructed; the Pirates of Batavia was operational in July 2020.
