The Han Market Da Nang was a trading hub that existed since the 19th century when Vietnam was still under the rule of the French colonial regime. It spontaneously became a trading spot in the early 1940s when the French built La Gare Tourane-Marché, a railway station to load and unload domestic goods and fresh fruits and vegetables that could be sold in the market.
Official construction did not begin until May 19, 1990. The market consisted of 2 enormous floors, covering an area of 28,000 square metres. After the construction, the market opened nearly a year later, on March 29, 1991. Today, the market consists of more than 576 stalls and 36 kiosks.

The Han Market Da Nang is located in the heart of the city. Also called by the locals as Chợ Hàn, the market is located between the Tran Phu and Bach Dang Streets, a downtown area near the Hàn River’s west bank. It is from this Hàn River that the Han Market Da Nang gets its name. The market address is 119 Tran Phu Street, in the Hai Chau District. Since the Han Market Da Nang is located in the city’s heart, it is easy to reach from any point. The market is a robust and crowded place. It is open from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. The market usually has two kinds of prices: the fixed prices mentioned at several shops, which are recommended to avoid being cheated, and the prices listed verbally when you go ahead to buy something.
