I was having a tough time deciding on my honeymoon location and package. My wife was a lover of hills and so was I. We, thus, began searching for some good honeymoon tour packages to hill stations in the North. We took a flight from Baroda to Delhi and left for Himachal via cab, which was at the airport for us. The distance from Delhi to Shimla is 342 kms and it’s a long drive. Hence we decided to halt at Chandigarh for sometime. Chandigarh has some really good places for sightseeing.
We visited the Sukhna lake, a very beautiful lake in the middle of the city, surrounded by huge trees. It is a very good place for walking and just relaxing for sometime. We also visited the rock garden, one of Chandigarh’s most famous places for sightseeing. We clicked a lot of pictures here before leaving for Shimla.
We reached Shimla by evening and since we were really tired from the journey, we directly went to our hotel, had dinner and slept off.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Shimla

Shimla is called the ‘Queen of hills’, and there is a good reason for it – the mountains in the backdrop combined with the ancient temples and lovely people make Shimla probably one of the best hill stations in the country.
We got up in the morning and had a quick breakfast for we eagerly wanted to start our sightseeing tour as soon as possible. We first did horse riding at the grounds near our hotel and it turned out to be a lot of fun.
Next on the list was Kufri, a small hill station near Shimla. Kufri is famous for its temple and activities in winters such as ice skating, skiing etc. However, since there was no snow in Kufri when we reached, we did other activities such as horse riding and hike to the temple.

It got late by the time we came back to Shimla, so we had dinner in the hotel itself and slept off.

Day 3: Kullu-Manali Tales
Day 3 was reserved for Kullu-Manali. We had always wanted to visit Kullu- Manali and it was finally happening. It took us some 4-5 hours to reach there. Upon arrival we first did white water rafting at Kullu and it turned out to be amazing. The water was quite cold so a warm cup of tea and hot Maggie was really welcoming afterwards.
After that, we left for Manali and reached there by night. We were exhausted from rafting so we checked into our hotel, had dinner, and slept off.
Day 4: The magnificence of Solang valley

One can’t come to Manali and not visit the Solang valley. The beautiful place surrounded by dense forests and the Giant Himalayan mountains, is a home to best adventure activities such as paragliding and skiing. We did not want to do paragliding and instead did ice skating, skiing and ice sliding. The whole day was spent in the Solang valley.
After coming back to Manali, we went to the clubhouse, an entertainment zone which consists of a dance floor, adventure rides, and snacks zone. We stayed there for a couple of hours, dancing, and having delicious snacks before heading back to our hotel for the night.
Day 5: Tales from the ancient temples of Manali
We had an early morning breakfast and left for a visit to the ancient temples of Manali. The Vashisht temple and the Hidimba Devi temple are the main attractions of Manali.
These two temples are important for Hindus from a mythological point of view. The great sage Vashisht once resided here and the Vashishth temple is dedicated to him. Devi Hidimba was Bhima’s ,the second eldest Pandava, wife and mother of Ghatothkach, the demon responsible for playing a major part in Pandavas’ victory in Mahabharat. Both these temples are very beautiful and one really feels at peace here.
After that, we went to the Mall road for shopping for shawls and other souvenirs. The weather was quite cold, but thankfully there was no snowfall or rain, so we could shop without any hassle.
After shopping, we came back to our hotel and retired to our beds.

The location of the hotel is really nice with rooms offering great views of the nearby mountains. The food is good and the staff is quite cooperative. The rooms are spacious and clean with basic amenities such as laundry services and medical facilities available.
Day 6: Back to Chandigarh

Today, we left for Chandigarh after an early morning breakfast and reached there by late afternoon. As we were quite tired and hungry, we directly went to our hotel and relaxed there making full use of our cosy and comfortable rooms .
Next morning, we had a quick breakfast and left for Delhi, thinking about the beautiful memories we created in Manali.

A very nice property with spacious rooms and cooperative staff. The meals are decently prepared and basic facilities such as laundry, wifi etc. are available.
Himachal was a wonderful experience for us. It not only brought me and my wife closer to each other but also made us realize that traveling is something we really enjoyed together.
