The Royal Botanical Park in Bhutan was initiated by Her Majesty Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck to mark the silver jubilee of His Majesty The Fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The project was initiated on 26th May 1999 when the foundation stone was laid to conserve the plant genetic resources of Bhutan. The garden is located and can be accessed by road from Thimphu. The Babesa-Serbithang Highway is accessible by bus or taxi for the visitors. It is also about a half an hour walk from Babesa.
