Step 1: Choosing Andaman and its reasons
Well, deciding the destination for your honeymoon is quite a task!I I was really confused as to where I should be going, so I sat down with my better half and listed my exact requirements from the destination.
After giving it a thought, we realised that we wanted a destination that would let us to enjoy a romantic stay at scenic beaches. We also wanted some peace and thus wanted to avoid places with a lot of crowd. In addition to that we were looking for a chance for us to indulge in some adventure.
After much consideration, we thought Andaman would be the ideal honeymoon destination for us. Due to its international standards of tourism within the domestic boundaries of India, the appeal for the destination was very high.
Here’s why you should totally consider planning your honeymoon in Andaman!
- Stunning white sand beaches!
An ideal destination for people who love to go island hopping and seeing various wonderful beaches. Make sure you travel the two most frequently visited islands via ferry- Havelock Island and Neil Island. Alternatively, if you all are looking for offbeat islands, check out Ross and Smith Island and Viper Island for a romantic hideaway. - Exploring the beautiful deep blue sea
Andaman has a plethora of water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, jet skiing, banana boat, and tube rides. There’s plenty of adventure out on the shores of Havelock and Neil Island. You just gotta pick one which fascinates you the most. - Superb patriotic Sound and Light Show
Considered as one of the best sound and light shows in India, the spectacular show in Cellular Jail, Port Blair is a big hit amongst the tourists which displays the patriotism and struggle of Indian freedom fighters. - Top notch hospitality & tourism standards
Tourism is the main source of income for Andaman, and they make sure that the tourists leave home with an experience matching any other top international island destination.

Step 2: Deciding on the budget
Budgeting is the next step to plan your ideal honeymoon trip to Andaman. You should ideally identify the kind of traveler you are and the kind of experience you are looking for. For a couple who wants to indulge in luxury, there is no limit in terms of the options. But the beauty about Andaman is that is caters to the needs of all travelers, even for people who are wanting to explore the marvels of Andaman at a budget, there is a lot on offer.
Although prices of flights and daily expenditures for travelers may vary depending upon their budget, I have listed down an average budget for people going there, as per my experience. Please note that the prices can also fluctuate depending on the season.
Inter-island Cruise Prices (Average cost for Premium class) : INR 1,000 per person
Accommodation* (3 Star/4 star/ 5 star): INR 1400 / 2000 / 3500
Daily Expenses (including meals, shopping etc): INR 800 per person
Scuba diving session (in Havelock/Neil Island): INR 2,500 per person (for 1 hour session)
*per person on twin sharing basis
Step 3: Booking Process
Now comes the booking process, which is usually very hectic but it has become a lot easier due to online travel marketplaces. You should ideally do a lot of research and not just speak to one agent, and hence these platforms come to your rescue.
For instance, TravelTriangle connected me to three different agents, and after a few customizations, I went ahead with the one who gave me the maximum options at a reasonable price. So guys, don’t hold back and try these online platforms, they make the work very easy.
Keep in mind of all the inclusions the packages provide while booking your package. Ideally you would want an all inclusive package, as the additional costs for food and tourist attractions could surge high during peak season which is November to February.
A few booking hacks that could be very useful for you, on your trip to Andaman –
- To avoid expensive flight tickets, try and take a connecting flight via Kolkata or Chennai.
- Try and travel in the shoulder season like October and March to enjoy best prices on flights and hotels.
- If you are leaving cruise/ferry bookings till the day of your arrival, do note that all booking offices are closed on weekends.
- Try and include meals in hotel packages as finding restaurants in remote islands in Andaman can be tough.
- Avoid going in the heavy monsoon region, May to September, as there is a chance you can get stuck there!
Step 4: Additional Research
Visiting any and every destination becomes more enjoyable and less stressful if you do a little background search on the place you are visiting a few days before leaving. A few handy pointers to keep in mind before going are:
- Be sure to check the weather conditions during the time of your visit. Keeping a few rain coats is advisable if traveling in and around the monsoon season.
- Talking to or clicking pictures of any tribals is punishable by law.
- Any and all inter island transport is done in the day-time, so expect to waste sunlight hours every time you move from one island to another.
