Travel to me and my wife is synonymous to many things – adventure, beauty, romance, rejuvenation, and an opportunity to experience new cultures, try new cuisines, and meet new people!

This was a much awaited honeymoon trip since I had been busy with international assignments post our marriage. And since my wife absolutely loves traveling, this trip just had to be perfect! So, as soon as she expressed an interest to go to Kerala, I immediately started looking up Kerala honeymoon packages online. TravelTriangle’s name prominently figured in the Google search results during my research, and though I had never heard of the portal before, the attractive website and promising deals compelled me to send a trip query.

I started getting quotes and calls from different agents within hours of sending a query. After careful speculation and numerous comparisons, we closed the deal with Deva Travel House. And true to their word, they did not let me regret that decision!

Things to do on a 6 nights 7 days Kerala honeymoon trip

Based on our experiences, we have put together all the awesome activities in Kerala that every couple must indulge in on their honeymoon in Kerala.

Lose yourselves in the sprawling, lush tea estates of Munnar

You’ll realise why Kerala is called God’s Own Country the moment you step into Munnar. The verdant, uniform fields of tea plantations spread as far as the eyes can see on gently sloping hills. We took some leisurely strolls in the estates and clicked a zillion pictures, but still felt like we couldn’t get enough of this paradise. Other than exploring the tea gardens, the thrill of driving around on these winding roads with fresh mountain air tickling your face is also amidst the most joyous activities on a Munnar trip.

Tip: Don’t forget to visit the ultra romantic Cheeyappara Waterfalls

Experience the thrill of a jeep safari in Eravikulam National Park

Nothing beats the exhilaration of a jeep safari in the deep jungles of Eravikulam National Park. One can spot various animals and birds on this bumpy, yet enjoyable jeep ride inside the sanctuary that takes you around on a range of topography from gentle slopes to rocky terrains. This experience is a must for all adventurous couples visiting Munnar on their romantic Kerala tour.

Tip: The ticket counters opens from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Reach early (between 7 AM to 8 AM) to grab your tickets and to avoid standing in mile-long queues.

Enjoy a scintillating boat ride in Periyar Lake

Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is an absolute delight for wildlife photographers and nature lovers. But the most delightful of experience within the park itself is that of the boat ride. Boating on Periyar Lake gives one an opportunity to be spot prominent wildlife from a close range, especially water birds, and also revel in the unmatched scenic beauty of Periyar. Adorable herds of elephants and deer drinking water near the shores will surely turn out to be an exciting thing to watch from the open-air decks of your boat.

Sail away on the picture-perfect backwaters of Alleppey

Those amber coloured backwaters of Alleppey tucked away beneath charming canopies of palm trees is a sight to behold. But what makes this painting-like landscape more enjoyable is a ride on a luxurious houseboat riding these backwaters. While on the boat, you can witness pretty fishing villages nearby, gaze at breathtaking views of the sunset, and savour a ravishing meal onboard prepared by expert chefs. We spent the most cherishable moments on that exotic boat complete with rooms and open-air dining arrangement. And the honeymoon decorations in our bedroom was a cherry on the cake! Alleppey sure knows how to pamper lovers on a romantic trip to Kerala.

Have a candle-light dinner on the beaches of Kovalam

The most charming beaches in Kerala are those at Kovalam. We absolutely loved hanging out on the golden sands of the Kovalam beach. After lazying around on that beach during the day, we enjoyed a sumptuous candlelight dinner on it at night, the memories of which we’ll cherish forever! Other than candlelight dinners, Kovalam beaches are also the perfect place to try activities like horse-riding and watersports like jet skiing, swimming, and parasailing.

Tip: Don’t forget to try boating in Kovalam backwaters amidst mangrove forests on your Kerala honeymoon.

Savour the local cuisines of Kerala

There’s a reason Kerala tops the list of all seafood lovers! The most delicious dishes of Kerala are usually a blend of elements like coconut milk, rice, seafood, and spices. While our favourite dish was Fried Fish, the food didn’t really disappoint us anywhere on our trip to Kerala.

We simply sought a jovial combination of adventurous activities, natural beauty, cruising, boat stay, and hill station on our Kerala honeymoon trip. We ended up getting a lot more than that!

Our WOW moments: Jeep Safari in Eravikulam National Park, elephant ride, the calm beaches at Kovalam, boating in the backwaters of Kovalam, tea estates of Munnar, Kathakali Show

Our Not-So-WOW moments: Uncomfortable bedding and a feeling of lack of privacy in houseboats | the driver was rather slow

Tips to future travelers:

  • Don’t stay on a houseboat overnight. Just take a short day tour
  • If the driver tries to convince you endlessly to visit a particular place, it’s usually for his commission purpose. So be firm on where you wish to go
  • Bargain well for all activities like boating, houseboat tour, elephant ride, etc
