Statue of Unity is a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, built on the banks of River Narmada, overlooking Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat. The height of Statue of Unity is 182 meters and currently, it’s the world’s largest statue. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the first-ever Deputy Prime Minister and the Home Minister of independent India. He was known as the “Iron Man of India’ because of his determination, courage and great competency in uniting the country through the merger of 552 princely states. Sardar Patel was also the chief supporter of Mahatma Gandhi and his philosophies during the non-violent Indian Independence movement.
Timings And Entry Fees Of Statue Of Unity
The Statue of Unity is open to the general public from 8 am to 6 pm on all days of the week except on Mondays. There are 5 zones within the statue, but only 3 are open to the public. The first level from the base up to the statue’s shins – comprises of a museum cataloguing Sardar Patel’s contribution, and a memorial garden. The second level extends up to the thigh area of the statue at 149 meters. The third level consists of the viewing gallery with breath-taking views of the Narmada river and the surrounding Satpura and Vindhyachal mountains. Sardar Sarovar Nigam has recently announced the development of key attractions within the premises of the statue like Dinosaur trail, Children Nutrition Park, eco-friendly cycle tours, boating, and a lavish Sardar Sarovar Resort.
The ticket price of the Statue of Unity is INR 120 per adult and INR 60 per kid between the ages of 3 to 15 years. The ticket for the observation deck is INR 300 per adults and INR 200 per kid. The entry for children below 3 years of age is free. This ticket is for entry to the museum, garden, the valley of flowers, memorial, and audio-visual gallery.
