At a height of 4330 meters, at the base of Bhagirathi Glacier, a small meadow named Nandanvan is located.It is situated at,from Gangotri at a distance of 27 km, 12 km from Bhojbasa and 8 km from Gaumukh.This place offers great views of the peaks of Shivling, Bhagirathi, Sudarshana, Thalay Sagar and kedar dome. It is also a great place for trekking.The trekking of Nandanvan is considered as not very tough one and begins from Gangotri.This is longtrek of total 27 km including 14 km trek to reach Bhojbasa from Gangotri,5 km trek from Bhojbasa to Nandanvan and 8 km from Gaumukh to reach Nandavan.In this 4 day long trek from Gangotri to Nandanvan and back, you need an experienced guide.There is also another trek path.From Tapovan to Nandanvan. This 7 km long trekking starts from Tapovan with through the glacier and ends with a approx. 100 meters of steep climb to Nandanvan. Through the Chaturangi glacier, one can also trek from Nandanvan to Vasuki Tal, which is a 6 km long trek and takes around 4-5 hours.
