5 Best Experiences Of Sikkim And Darjeeling Trip
From temples to lakes, our Sikkim trip from Hyderabad was truly captivating that included an adventurous twirl also. Check out the best of our experiences in journey:
1. Patriotic Vibes At Baba Mandir
Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple, locally known as Baba Mandir is located between Nathula and Jelepla pass. The heart-touching story of Baba Harbhajan Singh who was a Sentry of Punjab Regiment, lured us to visit this beautiful spot on our Sikkim trip from Hyderabad. Here we visited the Samadhi of Baba Harbhajan whose soul is believed to be still guarding the border. The temple looked like a pilgrimage and is visited by the soldiers of passing army trucks. An office beside the temple is the office of Harbhajan Singh, and other rooms showcasing his belongings. The serene location of this temple was awesome. We also visited the cafe here which served us a few mouth-watering delicacies.

4. Plunge In Culture At Namchi
The word Namchi means ‘Sky High’ and this beautiful town showcases a blend of culture, love and diversity typically from an elevation of 5,500 ft. It was a true delight as this place is home to beautiful temples, monasteries, and forests enriched with flora and fauna. It is an essential destination of Sikkim’s culture and our guide narrated the story of Sikkimese princesses. Sikkim features electrifying rafting experience with foaming white water of its thriving river Teesta. This adventurous excursion have rapids with different intensity and character. The enticing views of dense forests while rafting down Teesta is enthralling.
Our Hotels In Sikkim And Darjeeling
I stayed at Powering guesthouse in Sikkim. It was a full wooden small and cozy property. Staff was very friendly and served at their best. Rooms were good with geyser, tv, phone, closet, water jug with the heater to prepare tea and coffee. Water, tea and coffee were complimentary provided by the hotel. The bathroom was clean and hygienic, towels provided were clean. The hotel also provided complimentary breakfast and dinner which was delicious and you can customize it from so many available options (both veg and non-veg). Food was served hot and fresh. I liked the Sikkim.
In Darjeeling, I stayed at hotel Palbheu which was an average hotel with the same amenities as above. But the staff was a bit lazy in serving, whether it was food or other services. TV and phone were not in working condition. Food was good (both veg and non-veg). Check-in and check-out were hassle-free for both the hotels.
Food In Sikkim and Darjeeling
Breakfast and dinner were complimentary so we ate at the hotel only. Both the hotels served tasty food so preferred to eat at the hotel only. For lunch, we mostly ate street food.
Shopping In Sikkim And Darjeeling
From Sikkim we purchased exclusive woolen wear and from Darjeeling, we shopped a fine quality tea and a beautiful tea set. We also bought some Nepal handmade candies which were awesome in taste.
- 2 days in Darjeeling are waste, better spend it in Sikkim. Only 1 day is enough for Darjeeling. You should visit Nepal and Mirik from Darjeeling as local sightseeing is not that good.
- Carry enough warm clothes as both the destinations are quite cold.
