Siliserh Lake was constructed in 1845 by Maharaja Vinay Singh of Alwar to fulfil the water supply requirements for the city of Alwar. The lake was named after his wife, Shila, and it is known as Sheila Sarovar today. As a result of the lake’s construction, the region was turned into a beautiful green zone and a major water resource.
To the side of the palace, the Maharaja constructed the Siliserh Lake Palace to use as a hunting and summer palace. Today, it has been leased out as a heritage hotel where people can enjoy royal life and history.
