1. One Tree Hill – Trek To The Top

Located at a height of 6890 ft. above sea level, you get a spectacular view of the entire city of Nuwara Eliya from here. There is also the added adventure of climbing the hill and wading through tea plantations to get here. The 4 km hike up the mountain will be worth the entire duration of 2 and a half hours when you witness the majestic sunrise all by yourself and experience inner peace unlike anything you’ve felt before.
As the name ‘one tree’ suggests, when you reach the peak of this hill, you will find a giant tree on the peak to welcome you. 2. Holy Trinity Church – Herald Astonishing Architecture

The Holy Trinity Church is one of the finest examples of British colonial-era architecture, with Gothic and Tudor style influences in architecture. The church acts as a place that has tied its people together with its rosary of tenderness and care.
Queen Elizabeth II of England and her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, also visited the church during their visit to Sri Lanka in 1945. 4. Post Office – Letters From The Past

Situated in the city center of Nuwara Eliya, this post office is one of the oldest ones in Sri Lanka. It was built in a 2-storey Tudor style architecture in 1894 by British settlers. The red-brick building is replete with a clock spire. In 2012, the building was partially converted into a tourist destination, and in 2017, the government launched plans to convert the building into a hotel. By the efforts of the postal staff’s strikes, however, the plan was scrapped, and this significant building remained a part of the postal system.
The bright orange roofs and the red brick walls form a beautiful contrast to the manicured green lawns. The post office is a testament to the traditions of old and is one of the best places to visit in Nuwara Eliya to learn about the postal system and the British era in Sri Lanka.

The Hanuman Bhakta Temple is located on a picturesque hill in Ramboda about 30 kilometers north of Nuwara Eliya. Ramboda forms the gateway to the tea country. Situated in nature’s lap, the environs of the temple are as serene as its surroundings. Although there aren’t a lot of Hanuman temples in Sri Lanka since it is believed that he burned a significant chunk of the country with his fiery tail, more temples in Nuwara Eliya have been built in the last 3 to 4 decades.
This temple was built was the Chinmaya Mission. The temple houses an 18-foot-tall statue of Hanuman – the largest one in Sri Lanka. In this way, the temple is very significant as it forms an important part of the Ramayana Tour in Sri Lanka. This is also believed to be the same place that was visited by Hanumanji before going to Ashok Vatika. The temple is one of the top attractions in Nuwara Eliya for Hindu devotees.

6. Kolapathana Falls – Picnic Among The Cliffs

This enchanting waterfall is located in Mandaram Nuwara, a village in the Nuwara Eliya district. With a height of 70 meters, the water falls down the cliffs in multiple shimmering streams that give delight to the heart. The waterfall is a cluster of smaller waterfalls and the lowermost one is called Kolapathana Ella. However, the entire cluster can be seen together from a little distance.
This spot is great for swimming and bathing, taking a stroll, or having picnics. Visitors are strongly advised to bring a camera to capture the heavenly beauty of these hills and waters. 7. Adam’s Peak – Mysterious Footprints
Adam’s Peak is a 2243-meter-tall conical-shaped mountain located in central Sri Lanka. The place has a fascinating nomenclature to it. It is called Adam’s Peak as well as Sri Pada meaning “sacred feet” in Sinhala. At the summit, locals have found footprints set in stone. In Christian and Islamic traditions, it is believed that these footprints must belong to Adam, the first man ever created by God according to Abrahamic religious texts. Buddhists believe that the footprints belong to Buddha and are from the time when he used to preach in the region. Hindus are of the opinion that they must belong to Lord Hanuman when he came to Sri Lanka to look for Shri Seeta.

8. Kirigalpotta – On Top Of The World

After Pidurutalagala, Kirigalpotta is the second-highest mountain in Sri Lanka at a height of 2388 meters above the sea-level. It is actually the tallest summit accessible to the general public since Pidurutalagala is a military base and off-limits for tourists.
A 7 km long hiking trail that goes through the Horton Plains National Park provides access to the peak and takes about 3 hours to reach the summit, although the trail is not very popular. 10. The Hill Club – Hotel Cum Country Club

Nuwara Eliya is given the epithet “Little England of Sri Lanka” because the town has many historical British settler-era buildings and institutes that were constructed as early as the mid-1800s.
