Also known as Vitandgad, one of the best things to do in Lonavala would be to take a tour of the Tikona Fort. It is a majestic hill fort located in the Maval region of Lonavala. The fort is located on a 3500 ft high hill and is shaped like a pyramid which is why it’s called Tikona or “triangular”.

The fort was captured by the Mughal and later recaptured by Chhatrapati Shivaji for the Marathas who were called Vitandgad. Historians are not too sure about who built this fort, but there is a Vihara housed inside (a Buddhist monastery) which dates back to the 7th century.
